Senior GIS Consultant – Utility Design Software
Remote (U.S.) | ~20% travel
About the Opportunity
Requisite Talent Partners is partnering with a growing software company whose AutoCAD-based design automation platform is used by major electric and gas utilities across North America to hire a Senior GIS Consultant. The company’s professional services team implements and integrates its design platform with each utility’s GIS, asset management and work management systems.
This is a senior, hands-on role on a small, long-tenured team. You’ll lead the GIS side of multi-month implementation projects, help shape the team’s standards and best practices, and work directly with utility clients every day.
What You'll Do
- Lead the GIS integration workstream, building two-way data flows between a utility’s GIS and an AutoCAD-based design environment
- Run requirements workshops, map client GIS data models to the design data model, and define interfaces with client IT teams
- Configure feature-to-feature data mappings in an FME-style ETL tool and build custom transformers when needed
- Troubleshoot REST/web service payloads (XML, JSON), logs and SQL views, and help define acceptance criteria
- Support system, integration and user acceptance testing through go-live on projects that typically run 12–24 months
- Direct partner resources on configuration and testing tasks, and mentor junior team members
- Build documentation, standards and repeatable processes for a growing GIS practice
What You Bring
- 5+ years in GIS integration, consulting or development, ideally in the utility space (required)
- Strong ETL and data transformation experience; FME is a big plus
- Hands-on experience with ArcGIS (Utility Network, ArcFM, ArcGIS Pro/Enterprise), Smallworld or G/Technology
- Solid SQL and relational database skills (SQL Server and/or Oracle)
- C#/.NET experience is strongly preferred; strong problem-solvers with Python or other languages will be considered
- Comfort working with REST APIs, web services, XML and JSON
- CAD/GIS integration experience; AutoCAD Map 3D or Civil 3D is a plus (trainable)
- Confident, client-facing consulting skills and a self-starter mindset
- SAP or Maximo integration exposure, electric utility domain knowledge and Agile delivery experience are a plus
Location & Travel
- Remote (U.S.)
- About 20% travel, concentrated at project kickoff and requirements phases, then occasional milestone visits
- Mostly U.S., with occasional Canadian (and possibly international) projects
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary of $120,000 – $140,000
- Annual bonus
- Full benefits package
