Duties and responsibilities include managing payroll, which will require an understanding of construction operations along with prevailing wage rates, reconciling employee time sheets, reviewing payroll and payroll reports for accuracy, communicating with the company’s third-party HR consultants, and advising employees on various topics related to employee benefits.

Responsibilities

  • Understand compensation and benefits packages for employees
  • Collect and verify timekeeping information for all employees
  • Reconcile time sheets, as necessary, with foreman and/or project managers
  • Calculate pay according to hours worked incorporating leaves and overtime
  • Calculate bonuses and commissions when appropriate
  • Calculate and reconcile prevailing wage rate for employees, as needed
  • Manage and calculate taxes and deductions
  • Update paper and electronic payroll records by entering adjustments on pay rates, employee status changes etc.
  • Investigate and resolve any discrepancies in payroll
  • Prepare and submit reports with payroll information to supervisor
  • Prepare all annual filings, including W2s and ACA-health care related filings
  • Be the primary resource for any employee benefits-related questions
  • Act as main point of contact between the company and third-party HR consultants
  • Assist with on-boarding of new hire

Requirements

  • Payroll experience in the construction field with prevailing wage is preferred
  • Proven experience as a payroll clerk and/or HR professional
  • Excellent communication abilities with aptitude for problem-solving
  • Experience in data collection, entry, and reporting with great attention to detail and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability working with numbers and basic math skills
  • Demonstrated experience working with employee benefits
  • Outstanding organizational and time management skills
  • Data entry skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office
  • Ability to communicate and resolve issues with employees, foreman, project managers, or company management
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
