Job Title: Payroll Specialist
Location: Brewerton, NY (On-site)
Job Type: Full-time
Pay Range: $55,000 – $65,000 per year (based on experience)

We are seeking a knowledgeable and detail-driven Payroll Specialist to join our team and manage complex construction payroll processes with a focus on compliance, accuracy, and timeliness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Payroll Processing: Accurately process weekly payroll for field and office staff, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry-specific regulations.
  • Prevailing Wage Compliance: Ensure proper wage rates and classifications for government-funded projects, track certified payroll, and generate required documentation.
  • Timekeeping Management: Validate electronic timesheets, resolve discrepancies, and ensure accurate timecard submissions in coordination with supervisors and foremen.
  • System Oversight: Operate payroll systems (such as Paycom or similar platforms), ensuring employee records, job classifications, and rates are up to date.
  • Reporting & Audits: Prepare payroll reports for internal use and external agencies; support internal and third-party audits.
  • Benefits & Deductions: Administer deductions for benefits, garnishments, and other withholdings as required by law or union contracts.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with HR, Accounting, and Operations teams to support accurate labor cost reporting and compliance tracking.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Required Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of payroll experience, preferably in the construction industry
  • Experience with union payroll and/or prevailing wage regulations highly preferred
  • Proficiency in payroll systems (e.g., Paycom, ADP, or equivalent) and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of certified payroll and Department of Labor requirements
  • Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
  • Valid Driver’s License required
  • Must be able to work in the office Monday to Friday (8:00 AM – 4:30 PM)
